'Rosie' By Sherrill Bentley
"My design beautifies the dog to visually represent the value and joy they add to the lives of visually impaired people. The dog will have a pink background, covered in decorative white patterns, and a circle of roses around the dog’s neck." -Sherrill Bentley

Sherrill Bentley
"Art is my passion and I have been painting with enthusiasm for about 20
years. I work from a studio in my home in Onehunga, Auckland. My
inspiration comes from vibrant colours, beautiful vistas and native birds with
my favourite subjects being gardens, beaches and decorative patterns. I display
my art in group exhibitions around the country and in recent years I have
painted several outdoor murals around Auckland.
My current work explores ways of including elements from my Maori culture into my work, such as patterns, spirituality and legends. I am particularly interested in portraying New Zealand’s native birds and telling their story.
I wanted to be involved to support this worthwhile charity. Also I
enjoy using my art to help the community. I know how much independence a
guide dog can give to people who have poor or no sight.
Last year I painted a whale tail as part of the WWF Whale Tale Sculpture trail
and enjoyed that experience. My tail was displayed outside Kelly
Tarlton’s in Mission bay and was then auctioned off to raise money to protect
whales. I am delighted to say that the price my tail sold for was among
the top 10% of all the 80 tails."
