'Puāwai' By Émer Dodds
Puāwai means Blossom in Māori. The flowers attached to the base represent the guide dogs that have been, to commemorate them. The dots are pollen/spores that represent the little puppies that will be born to go on to train to become future guide dogs, the leaves represent their journey and the flowers represent them at their final destination of becoming a guide dog to go on to help those who need them.

Item Details
Émer's artist story begins in Belfast, Ireland. Specialising in portraits, she ran an art stall and held exhibitions of her work.
Moving to Auckland and finding herself stuck in a bubble just as Covid hit, Émer decided to branch out into painting colourful, fantasy and nature-filled pieces.
Thanks to being gifted an iPad, she has been able to design numerous pieces soon to be launched as a t-shirt collection.
This is the first piece of art Émer will have had on display since her arrival. She hopes to continue to support charities with her art. We may even be treated to an exhibition of her work in the future!
